RESEARCH AND INNOVATION

Evidence for AI in African Health Systems

LDHI conducts and publishes applied research on how AI and digital tools perform in real African health-system settings, so decisions are grounded in local evidence, not assumption.

Research Focus Areas

AI Diagnostic Accuracy in Low-Resource Settings

Evaluating how AI-assisted diagnostic tools perform under real facility conditions, including connectivity and device constraints common across Liberia and the region.

Health Worker AI Literacy

Measuring how training changes clinicians’ confidence and competence using AI tools in daily practice, and identifying gaps our curriculum should address.

Data Governance and Patient Trust

Studying patient and community attitudes toward AI-assisted care and health data sharing, to inform responsible-use guidance.

AI for Public-Health Surveillance

Exploring predictive modeling for disease surveillance and outbreak response using regionally representative health data.
